Mughal Tahakhana Complex

Chapainawabganj · 24.8176974, 88.1395568

About

The Mughal Tahakhana Complex in Shahabajpur Union, Shibganj, combines a historic residential building with a mosque and the shrine of Shah Niamatullah. The building’s rooms and waterside setting provide a different perspective from Gour’s Sultanate mosques. Visit the complex as one destination, respecting the distinction between heritage spaces and active religious areas.

How to reach

Approach via Shibganj and the Sona Masjid corridor, then follow the public road to the Tahakhana visitor entrance. It is close to Choto Sona Mosque, but agree the actual road route with the driver rather than walking across fields or private land. Keep a return vehicle arranged before the final stop.

Best time

Choose comfortable daylight for the compound and pond-side views. Confirm today’s visiting hours, weekly closure, religious events and permitted rooms with site staff. Older ticket schedules may not cover temporary closures or special arrangements.

Where to stay

For an overnight heritage circuit, compare accommodation in Chapainawabganj or Rajshahi against the return road journey. Confirm the room, total price and cancellation conditions directly; no property availability is promised.

Food

Bring drinking water and plan your meal around Shibganj or the main road. Ask what is currently available before relying on a nearby restaurant. Avoid eating inside display or prayer spaces and take litter away.

Travel carefully

Confirm the current ticket category, camera rules and authorised rooms at the entrance. Dress respectfully near the mosque and shrine and ask before photographing visitors. Do not touch displays or climb structures. The licensed 2016 photograph is a historical reference, not a report of current restoration.

Return journey

Agree the return vehicle and pickup point in advance; keep daylight and weather in the return plan.
